Lord Howe Island, NSW (Mar, 2012)

Thirty years ago there were only twenty of these birds left in the wild, on Mount Gower in Lord Howe Island. Thankfully there are now over two hundred on the island making them easier to find due to a successful breeding program which included feral animal control and banning cats on the island.

I was able to find them every day during my ten days on the island. The best time is dawn and dusk but as they stay in the shadows it makes photographing them more challenging!
